Privacy Policy for Caldendrium
1. Overview
Caldendrium is a plant journaling app, with a focus on caudex and succulents, developed and operated by an individual developer in Japan. This policy describes what information the app accesses, where the information is stored, and how we approach your privacy.
Summary: Caldendrium stores all of your data in services you already control (such as your Apple iCloud account). The app does not run its own server, does not transmit your data to the developer, and does not use any analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs. If you uninstall Caldendrium, your data remains in your own accounts.
2. Information We Collect
Caldendrium does not collect any personal information from you. The App Store privacy label is registered as Data Not Collected.
The information you create with the app (such as plant entries, work records, notes, photos) is written directly to your Apple Calendar / Photo library through the iOS-provided APIs. The developer has no access to that information.
3. Where Your Data Is Stored
The data you produce while using Caldendrium is stored exclusively in:
- The Apple Calendar database on your device (synced via iCloud if you choose, under Apple’s control)
- Your Photo library on your device (synced via iCloud Photos if you choose)
We do not have copies of these data. Your control over them is governed by Apple’s terms of service and privacy policy.
4. Permissions Requested
Caldendrium requests the following iOS permissions only when needed:
- Calendar (Full Access) — Required. The app reads plant records from and writes new entries to the iCloud calendar you select during onboarding. The app cannot function without this permission. Calendar data stays in your Apple iCloud account.
- Photos (Read & Write) — Optional. Used when you attach existing photos to a plant record, or when you set a “main photo” for a plant. The app references photos by their Photos identifier; image data is loaded on demand and is not transmitted off-device by Caldendrium.
- Camera — Optional. Used only when you tap “Take Photo” to capture a new image for a plant record. Captured images are saved directly to your Photos library through the iOS API and are not retained by the app.
You may revoke any of these permissions at any time via Settings → Privacy & Security on your device. Revoking a permission does not delete data you previously created.
5. Camera and Microphone
Caldendrium uses your device’s camera to capture an image and saves the image directly to your Photo library through the iOS-provided API. The captured image is not transmitted to the developer or any third party. The app does not record audio or video.
6. Children’s Privacy
Caldendrium is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children. If you believe a child has used Caldendrium, please be aware that the data they create is stored in their own Apple iCloud account, not with the developer.
7. Third-Party Services
Caldendrium interacts with the following third-party services as part of normal device operation:
- Apple EventKit (built-in iOS API) — Provides access to the Calendar database. Privacy: Apple Privacy Policy.
- Apple Photos / PhotoKit (built-in iOS API) — Provides access to the Photo library. Privacy: Apple Privacy Policy.
- Apple iCloud (optional, only if you enable iCloud Calendar / iCloud Photos in your device settings) — Synchronizes calendar and photo data with Apple servers. Privacy: Apple Privacy Policy.
Each of these is a service of the listed provider, with its own privacy policy and terms of service. The developer does not have access to data flowing through these services on your behalf.
8. Analytics, Advertising, and Tracking
Caldendrium does not include any analytics SDK, advertising SDK, or cross-app tracking framework. Apple’s App Tracking Transparency permission is therefore not requested.
9. Your Rights and Controls
Because we do not collect or store your information, there is no developer-side data to access, correct, or delete. To manage data you have produced with Caldendrium:
- Calendar data: open the iOS Calendar app to edit or delete entries directly
- Photos: open the iOS Photos app to manage images
- App permissions: Settings → Privacy & Security → Calendars / Photos / Camera
- App data residue: uninstalling Caldendrium removes the app and any local cache; your calendar / photo data remains in your accounts
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The updated version will be posted at https://caldendrium.com/privacy/ with a revised “Last updated” date. Continued use of Caldendrium after such updates constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
